Tutorial: Pelo Intercambiable para Muñecas - Interchangeable Doll Hair

Es raro... se me ocurrió una idea y no encontré nada parecido en Internet. Asi que decidí llevarla a cabo, a ver si se podía (Y por que a nadie se le ocurrió antes? Si alguien encuentra algo así, avisenme, por favor...)

It's odd... I had an idea, but couldn't find anything like that in the Internet. So I decided to see if I was able to make it work. (and I'm curius about why nobody seems to had think this first. If someone find something like this, please tell me...)

La cosa es, por qué hacer una muñeca con UNA SOLA clase de pelo? Por qué no hacerlo intercambiable? Con un poquito de Velcro, quizás?

The thing is, why make a doll with just ONE kind of hairdo? Why not make it interchangeable? With a little bit of Velcro, perhaps?


Todas sabemos (las que hemos crocheteado alguna vez una muñeca) lo difícil que es enganchar todo ese "pelo" (lana) uno por uno en la cabecita bonita tejida. Horas y horas de trabajo... y a veces ni siquiera queda bien.

We all know (who crocheted an amigurumi doll) how hard is to pin the "hair" (yarn) one by one in that little pretty head. Hours of work... and not always looks good at the end.

Y por otro lado están esos peinados hechos al crochet, como peluquitas. Están buenos, se ven muy lindos y prácticos... pero son medio aburridos al final, porque no se puede peinarlos o cambiarlos. Están pegados o cosidos a la cabeza de la muñeca.

And, by the way, how about those crocheted hairdos, like wigs? They looks good, seems easy to make, but are kinda boring because you can't change it. They are glued or sewn to the head's doll.

Y por último, colores! Por qué quedarse con un solo color de pelo en tu muñeca si nosotras nos podemos pintar el nuestro del que queramos? Azul, rosa, verde, rojo?

And also, but not last, colors! Why keep your dolls hair just one color if we can make ours blue, pink, red, or green?

Asi que estuve investigando un poquito por Internet, no pude encontrar nada como lo que yo había pensado, y me decidí a tratar de hacer mi propio "pelo intercambiable"

So I did a little research, couldn't find anything like I wanted, and decided to try my own form of "interchangeable hair".

Elegí un lindísimo patron gratis de Ravelry (pueden buscarlo aquí), e hice la cabeza un poco más chica que en el original. Corté 4 triangulos de velcro. Vean las fotos, por favor, para ver cómo los acomodé.

Pero se puede usar cualquier patrón de muñeca que les guste!

Primero hice una peluquita (después les cuento más sobre este tema), se la puse a la muñeca, y marqué en la cabeza dónde iba a poner los triángulos de velcro, para que se agarrara bien a la peluca pero que no se vieran. Marqué más o menos dónde sería el nacimiento del pelo.

Luego pinché con alfileres los triángulos, dejando un espacio entre ellos (para que la cabeza no perdiera la forma y flexibilidad) y por último, los cosí a la cabeza.

Y entonces probé la peluca... y funcionó! Éxito total! así que... ahora tenía que tejer más pelucas.

I choose a lovely free pattern (you can find it here, on Ravelry of course), made the head a little bit smaller and cut and sewn 4 triangles of velcro. See the pictures, please. 

But you can use any doll pattern you like!

First I made a wig (more about that later on), put it on the doll's head, and with the help of some pins marked where to put the velcro, so it could grab the wig right (hair borders, if you like), but couldn't be seen. 


Pinned all the triangles to the head with some margin in between, to keep the head round and flexible. Then, I sewn the triangles to the head.

And then I tried the wig... it was a success! Yay! so... I had to make some more wigs!


Encontré que hay basicamente 3 tipos de pelucas al crochet (con algunas cuantas modificaciones, claro). Son:

1- La peluca Medio Punto. Usando el mismo patrón de la muñeca pero con una hilera más de aumentos (o usando una aguja 1mm más grande), todo en mp. Simple y fácil.

2- La peluca "Weebee Doll", parecida a la anterior pero todo en varetas. Es más flexible y rápida de hacer que la de medio punto, pero puede ser que se vea la "piel" entre las varetas. Ésta la hice en naranja. Vean las fotos. Después yo le agregué unos rizos (después explico).

3- La peluca SLAT (Solo Lazo de ATrás). La gran diferencia con las anteriores es que no se hace en espiral, si no en hileras, ida y vuelta, siempre en medio punto pinchando en SLAT. Cuando se completa el diámetro de la cabeza, se une el comienzo y el final, y se frunce uno de los lados. Y listo!, una peluquita con el cabello lacio.

I found that there are 3 types of crocheted wigs (with a lot of alterations, of course). These are:

1- The Simple Crochet wig. The same pattern as the head of your doll but with an extra increase round (or use a bigger needle), all in sc. Simple and easy.

2- The "Weebee Doll Wig", a little like the former, but made with dc. It is more flexible and faster to make but it could be that you can see the "skin" of the doll between dcs. I did this in orange, see my pictures, please. Then, I added some curls (more about that later on).

3- The BLO (back loop only) wig. The big difference about this one is that its not cocheted in spiral, but in rows, always sc in BLO, back and forth, to complete the diameter of your doll's head. Then, you sew all  rows of one side together and presto! a little wig with straight hair-like.

Los rizos y mechones "sueltos" son muy simples de entender pero algo difíciles de hacer (si estas usando una lana finita...):

Hacer una cadeneta, del largo que quieras. Si quieres mechones de pelo lacio, hacer 1mp en cada cad. Si quieres rizos, hacer 3mp en cada cad, repitiendo todas las veces que quieras. Si quieres las puntas enruladas, hacer 5 o 6 repeticiones de los 3mp en cada cad, y luego continuar con 1mp en cada cadeneta.

Se pueden hacer los mechones sueltos por separado para coser más tarde a la peluca, o se pueden ir agregando por el borde, como hice yo con la peluca weebie de rizos naranja. Se hacen las cad, se hacen los mp y luego se une al borde de la peluca con un pp (punto pasado o enano).

Curls and straight "loose hair" are very simple to understand but a little difficult to make (if you use a thin yarn):

Make some chain stitches, as many as you like. If you want straight hair, make a sc in each ch. If you want curls, make 3 sc in the same ch, repeat as many times you want. If you want some curly ends, make 5 or 6 repeats of 3sc in each chain, then keep with 1sc in each ch.

You can make these "loose hairs" to add later or crochet 'em directly on the border of your choosen wig (like my orange weebie curly wig), joining with a slst at the end of each curl.


Para hacer la peluca blanca, hice una buena mezcla de todo lo anterior (y le agregué orejas de gato, por qué no?).

Aquí publico el patrón para hacerla, pero tengan en cuenta que tendrán que ir probando y variando la cantidad de puntos para que coincida con las medidas de la cabeza de la muñeca que hagan:

1- Comencé con un anilo mágico de 6 mp.
2- 2mp en cada mp (12)
3- 2mp en el primer punto, 1mp en el siguiente. Repetir (18)

Este número (18) es el que va a dar -multiplicado por 2- la cantidad de hileras en SLAT, que tiene que coincidir más o menos con el número de puntos en el diámetro de la cabeza, en mi caso 36.

4- Hacer 7 cadenas (comenzamos el flequillo), en el 2do punto desde la aguja, hacer 1mp. Repetir (6 mp). Unir al circulo con un pp. 1 cad, voltear la labor.
5- 1mp SLAT en los siguientes 4mp, 4cad. Voltear.
6- 1mp en cada cadeneta. 1mp SLAT en cada mp (7) Unir al circulo con un pp. 1cad, Voltear.

Repetir las hileras 5 y 6 tres veces más (haran un flequillo de 5 mechones).

7- 1mp SLAT en los siguientes 4mp, 23 cad. Voltear. (comenzando el resto de la cabeza más los mechones largos)
8- En el 2do punto desde la aguja, hacer 3mp en cada cadeneta, repetir 6 veces. Luego, continuar con 1mp en cada cadeneta, 1mp SLAT en cada mp de la vuelta anterior. Unir al circulo con un pp. 1cad, Voltear.

9- 1mp SLAT en los siguientes 10 mp, 13 cad. Voltear.
10- En el 2do punto desde la aguja, hacer 3mp en cada cadeneta, repetir 6 veces. (18) 1mp en cada cadeneta (6), 1mp SLAT en cada mp (10) Unir al circulo con un pp. 1cad, Voltear.

Repetir las hileras 9 y 10 hasta completar de unir con los 18 puntos del círculo del comienzo. Coser con las cuatro primeras cadenetas de la hilera 4.

Para hacer los mechones sueltos extra (estos iran cosidos en lo alto de la peluca), hacer 30 cadenetas. En el 2do punto desde la aguja, hacer 3mp en cada cadeneta, repetir 6 veces. (18) 1mp en cada cadeneta hasta terminar.

Repetir cuantas veces quieras! No hace falta cortar la lana cada vez que se termina un mechón. Yo hice 10. Luego, fruncir y coserlos todos juntos.

Espero que a partir de ahora disfrutes muchísimo cambiando el look de tu muñeca, no sólo la ropa, si no el pelo también!

To make the white wig, I did a good mix of all. And added a pair of cat ears (why not?)

Here it is the pattern, but keep in mind that you'll have to test and change the number of stitches so it can coincide with your doll's head.

1- Start with a 6 sc magic ring.
2- 2sc in each (12)
3- 2sc in the first st, 1sc in next. Repeat (18)

This number (18) is, multiplied by 2, the total of rows in BLO you'll have (36), wich is more or less the number of the head' diameter sts.


4- Make 7 ch (fringe start), in the 2nd st from the needle, make 1sc. Repeat (6sc) Join to the circle with a slst. 1ch, turn.
5- 1sc in BLO in the next 4sts, 4 ch, Turn.
6- 1sc in each ch, 1sc in BLO in each sc. (7) Join to the circle with a slst. 1ch, turn.

Repeat rows 5 and 6 three more times, making a fringe of five locks.

7- 1sc in BLO in the next 4sts, 23 ch. Turn. (Start the rest of the head and longer locks)
8- In the 2nd st from the needle, make 3sc in next ch. Repeat 6 times. Then, 1sc in each ch. 1sc in BLO in each sc. Join to the circle with a slst. 1ch, turn.

9- 1mp in BLO in next 10 sts, 13 ch. Turn.
10- In the 2nd st from the needle, make 3sc in next ch. Repeat 6 times. (18) Then, 1sc in each ch. (6) 1sc in BLO in each sc. (10) Join to the circle with a slst. 1ch, turn.

Repeat rows 9 and 10 to complete all 18 sts of that first circle. Join row 4 and last sewing the first 4 sts.

To make the extra long locks (those are sewn to the  top of the wig): make 30 chains. In the 2nd st from the needle, make 3sc in next ch. Repeat 6 times. (18) 1sc in each ch to complete.

Repeat all the times you want! I did 10 locks. Then, you must pin and sew it to the top of the wig.

I hope you'll enjoy changing your doll's looks, not only the clothing, but hair too!
